a vicious cycle

Went to the fifth leg of the Nature Valley Grand Prix bike race today, located in Stillwater. It’s always held on Father’s Day, and my dad really enjoys it, so the whole family attends together. The course is set up to climb the largest hill in town, 13 laps for the women’s race and 20 for the men’s race. Quite the test of endurance, and many racers don’t finish or get pulled from the race when they’re about to get lapped. A little more than halfway through the men’s race, the rain started, which made the course slippery and even more challenging.

The intensity at this event is astounding, from the athletes to the photographers, from the promoters to the spectators. People line the big hill to cheer, clap and ring some serious cowbell. What a great day.

Bicycle racing + rain + a 22% grade hill + calf muscles = photoging.
